What a beautiful pic of Manitou Amsterdam! Their beautiful socks together with my Smooth Sailor postcard. I can tell: he feels pretty comfortable in their cool and classy atmosphere. And of course: I’m a big sucker for the artwork on their labels. : )

When your computer crashes and you need to get something done by noon… Hurray for ol’scool handlettering techniques. The good news: my computer is back on track!
The other good news: I love handlettering, even if it made me feel like a human handlettering robot for a moment (and afterwards the pieces were 'useless' ;)

Parnassos and the City /

Wat een verrassing om zo opeens de enorme poster van Parnassos in het centrum van Utrecht tegen te komen! De poster is één van de uitingen die ik heb gemaakt voor het nieuwe cursusseizoen van Parnassos, hèt cultuurcentrum van de Universiteit van Utrecht.
Ik wist van te voren niet waar de posters zouden hangen. Wat een plek zo! Super mooi met de Domtoren op de achtergrond. : )

It definitely looked like the sun was playing hide and seek during the summer holidays in The Netherlands… So I couldn't resist drawing my request ; )

When I saw Charles Freger’s picture of a Yōkai, I had to draw this beautiful creature.
Yōkai are a class of supernatural monsters, spirits and goblins in Japanese folklore. The word ‘yōkai’ means: bewitching, attractive, calamity, spectre, apparition, mystery.
Yōkai are ritual figures imagined by man and embodied during festivals and ceremonies as an attempt to tame the elements and find meaning in natural events.
When I finished this cute monster, it suddenly reminded me of the movie Where the wild things are directed by Spike Jonze. So I had to add ‘I’ll eat you up. I love you so!’ : )
Artist in residence /
Vandaag voelde ik me een 'artist-in-residence' in het huis van m'n lieve vrienden. Waardoor ik meteen een paar nieuwe technieken ben gaan uitproberen. : )
